Abstract: Biography: Anthony Bull FREng is Professor of Musculoskeletal Mechanics at Imperial College London. His research interests are in how forces and deformations are transmitted through the musculoskeletal system. The applications range from diseases of ageing, including osteoarthritis, to high-level athletic performance and injuries. Anthony leads the Royal British Legion Centre for Blast Injury Studies and the Musculoskeletal Medical Engineering, both multi-million pound, multi-investigator funded research activities at Imperial College. Anthony’s main university leadership roles are Head of the Department of Bioengineering (since 2012), and co-Director of the Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub (the “Hub”) a 20,000 sqm translational research centre currently in construction at Imperial’s White City Campus. He is an active fundraiser for this activity having secured £68.8 million external funding for the building. Professor Bull has was elected to the Fellowships of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2014, the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2016, and to the World Council of Biomechanics in 2018
